Firstly, welcome. Secondly, may I point out this website is in no way connected to Cadbury's or Kraft. Today, the 2nd February 2010 is a sad day indeed. We the silly British have allowed Kraft the makers of plastic tasting cheese to take over an iconic, respected and famous company, namely Cadbury.

I have followed this story with the greatest of interest over the last few months, sad in the knowledge that under the pretence of the so called free market, that yet another loved iconic British company would be taken over by a foreign company.

I need not list all the other famous British companies that have gone, but needless to say Kraft has been here before. Some years ago they took over another chocolate company, namely Terry's of York. In a very short time indeed they closed the factory and moved production abroad. Progress we are told !

It was not that long ago that another American company, Heinz this time, gobbled up the famous HP Brown Sauce Company (also of Birmingham would you believe), and at once closed its iconic factory and moved production to Holland. Yet more British jobs lost.

What really grieves me about this is the fact that the so called free market only ever appears to work for foreign companies buying up ours, while these very same countries protect their industrial base. It makes me laugh that our spineless politicians are content to allow our industrial base to be sold off, perhaps they are too busy filling in their expenses forms to notice. It may shock them that people do not actually vote for them in order that they allow our country to be sold off.

An additional issue I have with this matter is that it was a state owned British bank RBS (yes the greedy one saved by the tax payer which still intends to pay out stupid amounts of bonuses to staff), that actually partly financed this takeover. So a few greedy bankers from a bank we the tax payer own, have financed the sale of an iconic British company to a foreign company that if history repeats itself will shed jobs and then close factories.

At a time when our politicians are scrounging around to claw back more taxes from the masses who have already reached saturation point, it is odd that they allow our industrial base to be taken over. A child at school knows that national wealth is linked to the power of its industry. This fact is certainly not lost on the foreign companies that are plundering ours, with a view to increasing their country's wealth.

One need not look no further that the great utility company sales. STATE owned French companies bought all ours up and then recouped some of the purchase costs by charging the captive customers stupidly high prices for gas and electricity. They have made HUGE profits at our expense !!! When we compare what these same old companies charge their own nationals for power it is clear we are being ripped off.

Every other day we read of foreign pensions funds buying up our companies. What do they know that we don't. Or perhaps the question should be, what can they do that we can't ? The answer is simple, we are not allowed to buy up their major companies which are their wealth builders.

Very soon we will have reached a point where there will be nothing for our own pension companies to invest in as all our industry is foreign owned. There is nothing to be proud of in selling everything off. We are killing our country slowly but surely.

The final irony. Please don't think that I am anti free markets, after all I bought the name kraftcadbury.co.uk, the name of this website even before this sorry sale had been concluded. As a consumer I also have a choice and I have no intention of purchasing any Cadbury products again, just as I have never purchased any Heinz or HP products.

As for the future, I think as a nation we are doomed. We are led by political donkies who have signed all their powers to the EU and can now only legislate on dogs fouling pavements and their own expenses. It is very clear our political system is undemocratic and unrepresentative as no one in their right mind would allow their country to be sold down the river.
